John K. McAllister papers, 1917-1918.

Contains the following types of materials: books / manuals, drawings, blueprints, schematics. Contains information pertaining to the following war and time period: World War I (WWI). Contains information pertaining to the following military unitand organization: Coast Artillery School; Coast Artillery Corps. General description of the collection: The John K. McAllister papers include enlisted man's papers; instructional materials for courses given by the Department of Enlisted Specialists; and electrical course dealing with various facets of fire control apparatus, wire splicing, search lights, alternating currents, cable testing and fault location, etc. Each course has typed "hand-outs" which are filled in longhand. Drawings, blueprints and schematics of electrical devices, and wiring diagrams are found throughout the manual. Also contains a notebook that consists of answers to test questions which he kept while a student in the Emergency Course for Enlisted Specialists at the Coast Artillery School, Fort Monroe, Virginia (November 1917-January 1918).
